Riders Café

After dreaming of going to Riders (but not because it's a hassle to get there) for months and months, I finally did on my day off in lieu with my dearest sister. Have to admit though, the burger was such a disappointment. Regretfully, the breakfast menu was over by the time we arrived so I didn't get the chance to try their famous eggs benedict. Shall have to return for it next time; made plans with my friends for that now that I know where it is. Maybe I will make my way to Pasarbella from there to buy macarons too. Oooh, am I getting excited for it already!

PS, I absolutely adore how the light falls on those lovely spots there; had a blast capturing them with my camera.

With love (hope you are all well), Pei.

Old Laid Back Charm

Some of these photos are obviously taken with my digital slr. I finally bought it after wanting one for so many years. I just had to make sure I wasn't going to waste the money invested into it.

Back to the post, I've always loved Tiong Bahru. Not sure if it's the laid back feeling you get from the place or the old but charming buildings or even the food there (not talking about cafes since they're new and cannot be counted as part and parcel of the old charm). I'm going to say all of the above. Tiong Bahru just holds a special place in my heart and even more so now because of the litter of cafes about the place. Here are some of the favourites shown above: Flock Café, Plain Vanilla and 40 Hands.

Hope you've all been well from my short hiatus from blogging. It's been a really long month but things are turning for the better already.

xx, Pei.

Photo Series #5

Haven't done one of this in a while. All of these were taken after I started work this past month.
Clarke Quay is a really beautiful place to work at, as walking along the river to work every morning calms me down and ready me for what the day has to offer or throw at me. Here's to hoping for another good couple of months until I stop working at Theatreworks (end August).

Cheers, Pei.

Wednesday

PS Café, Dempsey Hill

It's been a while since I last posted, as always. I keep trying, and failing, to update this space more frequently. Anyway, life's pretty great for me now. Everything just seems to be in the right place, I'm not lacking of anything and it all feels great. I'll probably start worrying about university soon though but I still have time to put that off for a bit.

Anyway I went to PS @ Dempsey with Cee at the start of April. The space is seriously gorgeous and the vibe was on point. However, we didn't really enjoy our time there as you would think. They forgot about our order, so we waited about an hour before finally getting our food, and when we asked for the bill, they gave us the wrong one too. On top of that, I thought the food was just alright, that it wasn't fantastic. We had differing preference about their truffle fries though. I thought it was nice but I liked the ones at Café Melba better. Cee, however, preferred the one here more.

What are your thoughts to that?

Sunday

The Factory

February was an insane month for me and this particular day, just after the Lunar New Year, was my only free day of the month. Afterwards it was just a blur of assignments after assignments, projects after projects, papers after papers, and then some. I'm sorry for the incredibly late post!

So I finally had the chance to try the truffle fries at The Factory, which offer them in an assortment of thin, thick or mix. We got the mix one and I liked the thicker ones better because there was more truffle taste, which obviously is the point. Overall it was a little disappointing, maybe because people have been raving about it and while it was tasty, it certainly wasn't the best I've had. Cee and I then walked around Serangoon, took photos, looked at gorgeous apartments around the hood, and visited The Coffee Daily for a short fika session.

Anyway, to share some good news, I've (unofficially) graduated! My exams are finally over after three insane weeks of studying and I'm free. I have also submitted an application to intern at a theatre company and I'm just waiting for their reply; it's supposed to take about two weeks, so wish me luck!

xx, Pei.
